A project with a "science fiction" theme, depicting a sandy alien landscape combined with a human being. While the work started from my desire to create a more realistic human face model after Myla, it intuitively grew into a "story project" as well on the way.
This time I decided to go against my own wishes and actually try texturing a human face somewhat more manually. I had been relying only on procedural texturing methods and was improving in that area, but progress was slow and I wasn't really satisfied with the level of realism achieved so far. I thought that I needed more experience on UV texture mapping anyway, so I finally decided to give it a try.
The photography-based textures created in GIMP are not very high resolution, but combined with procedural texturing they still provide sufficiently good results. Not very photorealistic, but suitable for the work in question in both style and quality. On the modeling side, I'd still want to improve the eyelashes, at least.
